Tokyo, Dec. 9 (Jiji Press)–Pfizer Japan Inc., the Japanese unit of U.S. drug giant Pfizer Inc., has proposed cutting its workforce by 5 pct, or some 300 employees, it was learned Friday.
The Pfizer group is aiming to reduce its overall costs by about 4 billion dollars, and the job cut suggestion is part of downsizing measures, Pfizer Japan officials said.
Pfizer Japan’s labor union, which some 4,000 union members, is considering strike action to press the company to drop the proposal, union officials said.END
