Dec. 17--ELIZABETH CITY -- Police arrested four people and confiscated cocaine, marijuana and guns, including two Romanian-made AK-47 assault rifles, during a Friday morning raid of a home, according to a statement from the Elizabeth City Police Department.

The 9:30 a.m. raid in the 1300 block of Lincoln St. was part of a nearly month long investigation, Police Capt. Frank Koch said. The investigation is continuing.

Investigators think the assault rifles might have been used in a drive-by shooting earlier this year that injured one man. The caliber of bullets used in the shooting could have come from assault rifles similar to those seized on Friday, Koch said. Police also seized a shotgun and a pistol.

All four suspects were charged with drug-related crimes.

nThomas L. Glover, 44, of the 1300 block of Lincoln St., was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, maintaining a home to facilitate the sale of drugs, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, four counts of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and possession with intent to sell and deliver drugs within 300 feet of a public school. He is being held at Albemarle District Jail in lieu of a $95,500 secured bond.

nWoody H. Gibbs, 62, of the 1600 of Edgewood Drive, was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and maintaining a vehicle to facilitate the sale of drugs. Gibbs is being held at Albemarle District Jail in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.

nDavid Eason, 52, of the 100 block of Herrington Village, was charged with felony possession of cocaine. He is being held at Albemarle District Jail in lieu of a $2,500 secured bond.

nValerie L. Bunch, 38, of the 1300 block of Lincoln St., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released after posting $500 bail.

Along with guns and drugs, police found a closed-circuit TV system that monitored the front and back of the house. It is the third house raided this year in which investigators found closed-circuit TV systems.

Also, three pit bull s were found in an enclosed area behind the house.

"This seemed like it was a pretty big operation," Koch said.

Police are considering transferring the case to state or federal courts because of the assault rifles seized from the house.

"There is no practical use or excuse for these types of weapons to be in the possession of these suspects," the statement says.

"These particular weapons are manufactured for combat."
