A 19-year-old Omaha woman was arrested on suspicion of felony child abuse Wednesday after taking her 20-day-old son to the emergency room at Children's Hospital.
Police were called to the hospital about 5:40 p.m. after doctors discovered the infant had multiple rib injuries.
The mother said the child fell off a couch. Doctors, however, determined that the injuries were the result of abuse.
The child was admitted to the hospital for further examination, but he was no longer a patient Thursday night, a spokeswoman said.
The mother was taken to Central Police Headquarters, where she was interviewed and booked. -- Kevin Cole
