PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- L A Weight Loss Centers, Inc., one of the world's fastest growing weight loss programs, gets into the game with Philadelphia Eagles' defensive tackle Hollis Thomas. L A Weight Loss will not only assist Hollis with his weight loss goals but also support him in his fight to help those who suffer from asthma. L A Weight Loss presented a $5,000 check to the Hollis Thomas Foundation on Friday, December 9 as Hollis Thomas hosted "Under the Mistletoe," a holiday mixer and charity fundraiser, at Anjou Restaurant, part of the ongoing efforts of the Hollis Thomas Foundation.
Since Thomas suffers with asthma himself, L A Weight Loss agreed to make a donation for every tackle and sack he made throughout the 2005-2006 football season. Thomas presented a check for $10,000 to the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America Southeast Pennsylvania Chapter. The foundation was started by Thomas in 2001 to allow at-risk youth to achieve their greatest potential in education using athletics as a means for advancement, by providing programs that support their social and personal development.
"We are thrilled to be a part of such an important cause and to be working with someone as talented and dedicated as Hollis," said Dara Steiger, Director of Nutrition and Behavior Education of L A Weight Loss. "I have no doubt that he will be as successful and vigilant in reaching his goal weight as he is in helping others."
Hollis was so inspired by his coach Andy Reid's success, he decided to get into the program himself. Hollis has already begun to lose weight by eating smarter and having smaller portions. L A Weight Loss is fast becoming the premier choice of effective and long-lasting weight loss programs among men and women alike.
Invited guests at the "Under the Mistletoe" event included Philadelphia's own Mayor John F. Street; Congressman Chaka Fattah; City Council Members Donna Reed-Miller, Marian B. Tasco, and W. Wilson Goode, Jr.; Philadelphia Eagles' Jon Runyan, Dhani Jones, Jevon Kearse, and David Akers; Philadelphia 76ers' Allen Iverson, Chris Webber and Andre Iguodala; and Philadelphia Flyers' Peter Forsberg and Donald Brashear and others.
