Several public health programs will be closed from Friday, Jan. 6, through Tuesday, Jan. 10, or Jan. 9-11, as the Clark County Health Department moves into its new headquarters.

The health department is moving into the recently completed Center for Community Health, 1601 Fourth Plain Blvd., on the nearby campus of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

The following services will be unavailable from Friday, Jan. 6, through Jan. 10:

* Clinical services (flu shots, immunizations, family planning, STD treatment, refugee health, oral health and parent-child health); limited services will resume on Jan. 11 by appointment only; full services will resume on Jan. 12.

* Communicable disease and tuberculosis services; services will resume on Jan. 11.

* Vital records (birth and death certificates); services will resume on Jan. 11.

Several other services will be closed Jan. 9-11:

* Environmental public health services (food card testing, food inspections, septic system, solid waste and water services). During the move, environmental health will continue to provide application information at the Clark County Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. Limited services will resume on Jan. 12 and full services will resume on Jan. 13.

* Women, Infants, and Children (WIC); services will resume on Jan. 12.

* HIV/AIDS case management services; services will resume on Jan. 12.

The following emergency phone numbers will remain operational throughout the move:

* 360-397-8182 (communicable disease);

* 360-397-8406 (tuberculosis).

The department's main phone number has changed to 360-397-8000. All other direct lines and extensions will remain the same.

All public services offered by the Health Department will be located on the third floor of the Center for Community Health. Several other local agencies, including those offering mental- health services and drug-and-alcohol services, also will be moving into the $38 million center.

The health department's current home at 2000 Fort Vancouver Way will eventually become part of an expanded campus of neighboring Clark College.
