Nobel says bone loss claims not supported

Posted on: Thursday, 5 January 2006, 02:06 CST

ZURICH (Reuters) - Swiss-Swedish dental implant maker Nobel Biocare rejected claims by two professors that one of its dental implants could lead to bone loss, saying on Thursday that their allegations were not supported by data.

Nobel said that data supplied by the two Swedish professors who made the allegations about its NobelDirect implant contained no scientifically or statistically relevant evidence supporting their claims.

The concerns that NobelDirect caused bone loss have weighed on the company's shares in recent weeks.
