Chinese vice premier stresses food, drug safety
BEIJING, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi highlighted food and drug safety at a meeting here Thursday, urging food and drug authorities to strengthen supervision.
At a working conference of the State Food and Drug Administration, Wu ordered food and drug departments to follow the concept of scientific development to ensure food safety, drug production and marketing order.
Confirming these departments' efforts to promote food and drug supervision and cope with public health emergencies, she urged them to further improve the supervision system and make innovations to ensure food and drug safety for the public.
The two-day meeting will determine major work to be carried out in 2006 and over the next four years based on the 2005 experience.
