SHPS Wins 14 Awards for Excellence in Standard and Custom Health and Benefits Communications

Posted on: Wednesday, 18 January 2006, 09:00 CST

SHPS, a leading Integrated Health Management provider, received 14 awards for its standard and custom health and benefits communications in the 2005 National Health Information (NHI) Awards program. Organized by the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC), a national clearinghouse for consumer health information programs and materials, the awards program recognizes the nation's best consumer health programs and materials and is the most comprehensive competition of its kind.

SHPS won four silver awards in the consumer decision-making information category for its standard CareWise(R) communications, including the CareWise for Older Adults: Self-Care for Lifelong Health (3rd edition); CareWise "dry skin" poster and CareWise influenza postcard.

In addition to its standard communications, which are delivered as part of the standard product delivery, SHPS was recognized with a silver and several bronze awards for custom communications' work it had developed exclusively for its large employer clients.

SHPS created the customized communications to further engage, educate and drive employee participation in employer-sponsored care management and health benefit programs. By creating a consistent look and feel and integrating its program messaging into both its healthcare services interactions (e.g., disease management, demand management and personal health profiles) and traditional human resource benefits communications (e.g., spending account administration, eligibility and enrollment), SHPS delivers employees a clear, consistent message across the entire healthcare continuum and adds substantial value to the employer's benefits program.

SHPS' communications messages are delivered via the entire range of traditional and electronic media, enabling employers to use them in a variety of branded formats that best meet their communications objectives.

"We were delighted to participate in the National Health Information Awards Program and honored to be selected as a winner in so many categories," said Ashley Horner, SHPS vice president of marketing communications. "Our winning entries were chosen from more than a thousand entries judged by a panel of health information experts. The recognition from these awards affirms that both our standard and customized communications campaigns add value to employers seeking to deliver high-quality healthcare information to their employees."

SHPS' Integrated Health Management vision takes a proactive approach to managing total employee health. Its communication campaigns support this vision by engaging the employee with personal, meaningful interactions that inspire and empower them to make wiser decisions about managing their own health. These decisions produce better results that lead to lower healthcare costs, benefiting the employee and employer alike.

The HIRC promotes the distribution of accurate, timely consumer health information materials to professionals and managers in the field. The awards reflect an industry standard of quality for consumer health materials, and this "seal of quality" helps health professionals find the best consumer health information resources for their programs, according to a HIRC press release.
