Posted on: Thursday, 19 January 2006, 21:00 CST

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Jan 19 (Interfax) - Neither of the two employees of a Rostov poultry farm who been found to have the H5N1 virus antibodies present in their blood are sick with bird flu, chief epidemiological specialist of the Russian Health Ministry in the Southern Federal District Vladimir Ryzhkov told Interfax.

"We have examined employees from every poultry farm, all in all, 450 people. Two blood samples contained a small amount of H5N1 virus antibodies. This shows that the employees had encountered the virus but did not contract the disease," he said.

"Migration is in progress and the virus is present everywhere," he added.

"Neither employee poses any danger as they are not ill. Therefore they have not been placed under quarantine or even informed about the test results," Ryzhkov said.
