BIOSAFE Announces Instant Anemia Test for Medical Professionals

BIOSAFE Medical Technologies today announced the release of its new BIOSAFE Hemo-Quant(TM) rapid anemia test. This low cost, single use, disposable unit is for professional use by physicians and hospitals. It will be available to medical professionals beginning Q2 - 2006.

Designed and developed by BIOSAFE's research and development team to measure hemoglobin levels, this FDA approved and CLIA waived device provides a result in less than 10 minutes that is both easy to understand and as accurate as a standard laboratory analysis. The product will be available through major medical products' distributors and will be priced to support third-party reimbursement.

Hemoglobin is the red pigment in red blood cells that transports oxygen throughout the body. Anemia is a blood condition identified by a lower than normal number of red blood cells, usually measured by a decrease in the amount of hemoglobin. Risk factors for anemia include heavy menstrual periods, pregnancy and older age, as well as serious diseases that cause anemia such as chronic kidney disease, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and HIV.
