Cancer Talk Set at Memorial
A Texas doctor who specializes in cancer treatment will speak about his own experience as a cancer patient Thursday, Feb. 9, during a public education program in Springfield.
Dr. Martin Raber, professor of medical oncology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, will talk at 5:30 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center’s Wedeberg Conference Center, 701 N. First St.
The presentation will be sponsored jointly by Memorial, St. John’s Hospital and the SimmonsCooper Cancer Institute at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.
Raber became a patient at M.D. Anderson, where he practiced medicine, when a rare cancer formed a tumor in his liver.
Admission to Raber’s talk will be free, but pre-registration is encouraged and can be completed by calling SIU’s continuing medical education office at 545-7711.
Raber also will be a keynote speaker at SIU’s sixth annual cancer symposium for doctors and health professionals Feb. 10 at Prairie Heart Institute.
