According to Al-Ahram newspaper (January 29, 2006), Mr. Mustapha Ibrahim, a member of the Arab Pharmaceuticals Manufacturers Association, said that there is a good pharmaceutical industry in Jordan. In 2003, Jordan’s pharmaceuticals production hit $240 million. Yet, the local markets consumed only 26% of this output. The local markets imported $155 million worth of pharmaceuticals from abroad in 2003. As a result, the national industry had to export $185 million worth of pharmaceuticals in the same year.
