Fletcher-Flora Health Care Systems Inc. (OTC:FFLH) announced today that American Family Care, with headquarters in Birmingham, Ala., has selected the company's Web-based encaLaber(TM) Laboratory Information System (LIS) to serve American Family Care's central laboratory and its 21 other clinics located throughout Alabama.
Fletcher-Flora's encaLaber solution will improve the turnaround time of patient results and integrate with American Family Care's electronic medical records that track a person's health history over time and across American Family Care's organization in a secure environment.
"American Family Care selected Fletcher-Flora for its experience with laboratory information systems and for its ability to connect the entire healthcare organization, including their remote instruments," explained Brian Mattson, vice president, sales, Fletcher-Flora. "We are proud to partner with American Family Care so they can continue to provide quality healthcare and best practices in the state of Alabama."
About American Family Care (AFC)
American Family Care (AFC) was established in 1982 in Birmingham by D. Bruce Irwin, M.D., who is chairman of the board, CEO and medical director. The concept was basic but revolutionary because it put the patient, not the healthcare provider, at the center of the delivery model. Since 1984, AFC has grown to 19 medical centers and 21 practices in the state of Alabama. In addition to primary care and occupational medicine, AFC also offers general surgery, nephrology and internal medicine, orthopedics, ENT, physical therapy and GYN services. This "vertical integration" of medical care allows AFC patients access to specialty services without the traditional two-week (or longer) wait. AFC is a privately held company and is not affiliated with any hospital, hospital system or HMO.
