Hospital to Offer Free Heart Scans

SAN RAMON — In an effort to help both women and men be aware of their health risk, the San Ramon Regional Medical Center will be holding free heart screenings later in the month.
It is an opportunity to learn, to have to ability to get screened, and learn how to reduce heart risks, said Marketing Manager Sandra Ryan.
Although February is a month geared toward the awareness of heart health for women, heart disease is the number one cause of death for both women and men.
Check Up on Your Heart Health will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb, 25, in the hospitals South Building at 7777 Norris Canyon Road.
In celebration of the American Heart Associations Go Red campaign, adults are invited to have their cholesterol, blood pressure, body mass index and computerized body fat analyzed.
The Go Red campaign is an effort geared toward women, to let them know they are just as at risk of heart disease as men.
Friday was Go Red for Women day, a movement by the American Heart Association around the country to empower people — predominantly women — about heart health.
Women have just as much a chance as men, and a lot of times they dont even realize it, Ryan said. The whole community can benefit from checking their health.
In addition, medical staff will be there for check-ups and consultation.
Getting screened and seeing what to improve is the first step toward better health, Ryan said.
