YaSheng Group Announces Industrialization Plans for a Vaccine to Combat "Foot and Mouth Disease"

Posted on: Monday, 6 February 2006, 15:00 CST

The YaSheng Group (OTC: YHGG) announces its Industrialization plans for three new products: a vaccine for foot and mouth disease peptides, genetically engineered animal feed, and a testing kit for use by governmental Customs agencies and the International livestock trading industry.

Last August, YaSheng Group announced that its Research and Development team had mastered a gene cloning process that allows the creation of fortified cells that combat Foot-and-Mouth Disease. Scientists at the company also developed a cost-effective, easy-to-use, technique to test live and dead animals for the disease.

Design and development plans are in progress for the 100,000-square-foot facility. The headquarters and sales department will be located in Beijing, China. The location of the production facility will be in Lanzhou City, in Gansu Province on land acquired with the cooperation of the local Gansu Government as well as the National government. The facility will have a production area of 40,000 square feet, a 10,000-square-foot lab, and an animal experimental testing area of 30,000 square feet. It will also have administrative offices and a 5,000-square-foot warehouse, with 7,000 square feet of living quarters.

YaSheng Group first plans to set up the manufacturing and high-yield production of a foot-and-mouth disease synthetic peptide vaccine which their Research and Development department tested to be 3 times more effective than virus activated vaccines. The cost is more efficient than existing products without the danger of further spreading the epidemic. Research of foot-and-mouth synthetic peptide vaccine is still in the initial stages in China. With the production and application of this project, China may become free from the threat of Foot-and-Mouth disease. The company plans to export this vaccine around the world.

The second phase is to produce transgenic crops to use in feed to create an oral foot-and-mouth synthetic peptide vaccine. These transgenic crops include clover, livestock grass, lettuce, alfalfa and other animal feed additives. Prevention implementation is more cost-efficient and produces better results with wider application to potential remote areas that could be infected.

The third is a Kit for domestic and overseas trading and governmental customs uses in testing for foot-and-mouth disease. This testing kit will also be cost-effective and allow the process of testing to be simplified and applied in remote areas.

YaSheng has obtained two patents related to this project with a third in its final stages of approval. Patent Number Z101145165.3, Z101145166.1, and Application No. 031005810

Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) is a highly infectious viral disease of cloven-hoofed animals such as cattle, pigs, sheep, goats and deer. In the past, FMD has been controlled through the mass culling of infected and in contact animals. New legislation and the development of vaccines had become a key FMD control strategy. The most recent epidemic occurred in 2001 when a major outbreak hit the U.K. and the disease affected areas in Asia, Africa, South America and the European Union, which resulted in the slaughter of approximately six million animals and caused billions of dollars in damages. Modern technology of this type of technology is in still its early stages and YaSheng strives to stay at the forefront by commercializing three products:

YaSheng's Animal Husbandry and Poultry-raising subsidiaries consist of a variety of animals including cattle, deer, sheep, goats, pigs, and chickens. The company operates a modernized pig farm with annual capacity of over 10,000 pigs and a large chicken farm which supplies 220,000 lbs. of eggs annually. The YaSheng Academy of Sciences Research and Biotech development center is devoted to Agricultural advancement and the protection of the animals' well-being.

The Chinese Animal Husbandry and Poultry industry is one of the largest in the World. It has an annual production of 140,000,000 cattle, 280,000,000 sheep, and 61,000,000 pigs.
