DSS, Inc., a software development partner of the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), today announced vxVistA, an enhanced version of VistA, the health care systems architecture that has been used successfully in the VHA for over 20 years. VistA is a highly regarded, patient-centered electronic health record (EHR). The new vxVistA architecture is a platform for building proven, cost effective health care applications for non-VHA health care delivery systems.
"Based on customer feedback, vxVistA is a perfect fit for federally qualified health centers, correctional institutions, group practices and behavioral health settings," said Mark Byers, President of DSS. "We've incorporated our Mental Health Treatment Planner and Dental Record Manager Plus products into vxVistA. Both are widely used in the VHA and give prospective users a unique and comprehensive view of a patient's health history."
vxVistA is compatible with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) version of VistA available from the VHA. "Compatibility means that our customers can take advantage of future development being done by the VHA," explained Byers. He added that: "Because of its successful history and wide use in the VHA, vxVistA is a low risk, cost effective solution for any health care delivery system."
