CTGHS Introduces New Remote Application Support Centers and Care Continuity Services

Posted on: Thursday, 9 February 2006, 12:00 CST

CINCINNATI, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- CTG HealthCare Solutions, Inc. (CTGHS), a leading information technology (IT) consulting firm serving the healthcare industry, today announced two new services: Remote Application Support Centers and Care Continuity Services.

CTGHS is expanding its established transitional application outsourcing services with the addition of remote application support centers. The first two facilities are currently under development in Dallas and Philadelphia, with the Dallas center scheduled to be fully operational by March 1, 2006. The centers will provide around-the-clock remote technical support for a wide variety of client healthcare information systems (HIS) as well as highly specialized and custom applications. Service levels will be based on individual client requirements and closely monitored to ensure client needs are met. The centers will be staffed by local IT specialists with experience in operating diverse financial and clinical HIS systems.

"Many healthcare institutions prefer to have their own IT staffs take the lead in implementing new technologies or mission-critical applications that require institutional knowledge of their culture and processes," said Ken Roderman, Director of Strategic Sourcing. "They find it more efficient and cost-effective to outsource day-to-day maintenance of their current applications during an implementation. By augmenting our existing expertise in transitional outsourcing with remote service capabilities, we'll be able to offer our clients a wider range of cost-effective application management options. The remote options free up expensive facility space at our clients' sites while delivering a very high level of customer service."

A second new CTGHS service, Care Continuity Planning, takes a clinically- driven approach to traditional business continuity planning. In addition to providing for the restoration of key services that support business processes, Care Continuity Planning takes the additional step of safeguarding the patient care process during an emergency. This new approach to business continuity planning begins at the point of care, documenting clinical processes that are in turn mapped to business processes and technology infrastructure. Its process-based approach allows CTGHS to analyze the complex interactions between clinical teams as well as IT systems to create a comprehensive plan for continuing vital clinical and business operations during a service interruption.

"The latest occurrences of natural disasters underline the importance of planning to sustain patient care through any crisis," said CTGHS Advanced Technologies Solutions Director, William Hudson. "Continuity planning in healthcare isn't about IT. It's about making sure the healthcare organization can care for people in any situation."
