NEW YORK, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ — According to the results of a study of over 6,900 women by the Sister To Sister: Everyone Has A Heart Foundation, women with a waist circumference of more than 35 inches are in danger of having multiple risks for heart disease. The study published this month in the Journal Of Women’s Health, a medical peer-review publication, revealed that more than half (52.1) of the women with a waist circumference of 35 inches or more had two or more heart disease risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and high blood sugar.

The study is based on women attending free heart screenings in 12 major cities on National Heart Day last February. The Sister to Sister heart screenings were conducted in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Atlanta, Dallas, Philadelphia, Boston, St. Louis, Charlotte, Washington, D.C. and Baltimore.

The study was compiled by the Preventative Cardiology Unit, at New York- Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.
