Initiate Systems Builds Healthcare Practice With New Senior Vice President and Directors

Posted on: Monday, 13 February 2006, 09:00 CST

Initiate Systems, Inc., the recognized standard in enterprise master person index (EMPI) software for the healthcare industry, today announced that R. Scott Harper has joined the company as senior vice president and general manager of its healthcare practice. As part of a major expansion of its successful healthcare organization, Initiate has also hired a senior director of healthcare alliances, a director of regional healthcare information organization (RHIO) sales and a director of national healthcare organizations.

"With these new hires, Initiate continues its expansion and market leadership in the healthcare EMPI market," said Bill Conroy, president and CEO of Initiate Systems. "Scott Harper is a proven leader -- no one has a better track record for strategic business expansion in the enterprise healthcare integration and healthcare solutions market."

Harper has 20 years of experience with healthcare technology companies, including McKesson, Cerner, SeeBeyond and Sybase. In 10 years at SeeBeyond, Harper led the company's North American healthcare business, established it as the leading enterprise application integration vendor and pioneered its move into the master patient index, HIPAA transaction architecture and integration-based composite application markets. As senior vice president and general manager of Initiate Systems' healthcare practice, Harper is responsible for overall healthcare strategy and tactical implementation. Harper oversees direct sales, sales operations, customer satisfaction and strategic alliances.

"With its leadership in EMPI, Initiate is the right company at the right time," said Harper. "Accurate patient identification is the foundation of EHRs and interoperability -- and Initiate's technology is simply the best for delivering the benefits of these initiatives, which are the future of healthcare."

Initiate also hired Duncan Arnold as its senior director of healthcare alliances. Arnold is responsible for expanding Initiate's third-party healthcare channels, such as systems integrators, resellers, value-added resellers and independent software vendors. Arnold was formerly the director of channel sales for WebMethods and managed and directed healthcare alliances for Sybase and SeeBeyond.

Michael Warthen joins Initiate as director of RHIO sales, a major focus of Initiate's healthcare business expansion. Warthen previously was the vice president of sales and business development for 4medica. He also held strategic management positions with IBM, Cerner, SMS (Siemens) and SeeBeyond and is the founder of MedAssure.

David Pulver, Initiate's new director of national healthcare organizations, is responsible for developing national accounts, focusing on the 15 to 20 largest national organizations within the healthcare provider market. Pulver was most recently a vice president of sales at Misys Healthcare and has held vice president positions at Sunquest and HBO & Company (now McKesson).
