Posted on: Tuesday, 14 February 2006, 18:00 CST

Parrish Medical Center (PMC), one of America's finest healing environments, and Skylight Healthcare Systems, a San Diego-based provider of interactive patient system technology, are working together to provide innovative patient services and amenities using Skylight's ACCESS(SM) Interactive Patient System (formerly called GetWellTV). The majority of PMC's patient rooms will be equipped with this contemporary in-room system, beginning this spring.

Already an award winner for clinical excellence and healing patient experiences, PMC is a nationally recognized leader for both quality of care and service. Now with Skylight's ACCESS Interactive Patient System underway, the patient experience is further enhanced. Televisions in PMC's patient rooms will be transformed into multi-media centers for each patient, providing innovative services such as Internet connectivity, Hollywood movies, music and games, along with bedside access to a range of hotel-like amenities such as room service, direct hospital information and immediate access to patient support departments.

Need a warm blanket, extra pillow, your room temperature adjusted, or room service? The ACCESS Interactive Patient System allows patients to makes these kinds of room comfort requests on their own. Prefer to relax with music, enjoy a movie with visiting family members or check your e-mail? Today's hottest entertainment and communication options will be at patient's fingertips, 24 hours a day.

"Parrish Medical Center has received numerous national recognitions for quality and service. Our board of directors and every PMC care partner is always focused on excellence and giving healing experiences to everyone all the time," said PMC President/CEO George Mikitarian. "Adding the ACCESS Interactive Patient System to our complement of services enhances the healing environment we provide patients."

Parrish Medical Center patients will have direct access to patient support departments (for example, room comfort requests go directly to hospitality services), a digital, on-demand health education library (which offers patients and visitors immediate access to a dozens of disease-specific health materials), and patients will enjoy high-speed Internet, e-mail and other first-class entertainment options including movies, music and games.

"We are proud that Parrish Medical Center continues to be a recognized health care leader," said Nathaniel Pilate, PMC board chairman. "PMC care partners--employees, physicians and volunteers-- skillfully blend good old fashioned loving care with leading edge technology to provide healing experiences for everyone all the time."

"Parrish Medical Center is leading the way hospitals do business through a state-of-the-art patient system providing an exceptional patient experience with personalized care," said David Schofield, President and CEO of Skylight Healthcare Systems. "At Skylight, we are honored that ACCESS is helping Parrish Medical Center achieve its vision by positively contributing to the patient experience."
