Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Appoints Dr. Frank Astor South Florida Medical Director for Professional Programs

MIAMI, Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida (BCBSF) has appointed Dr. Frank Astor South Florida Medical Director for Professional Programs. In his new role, Astor will have direct contact with contracted physicians to support programs designed to enhance their understanding of the BCBSF services and programs. He will work in the Miami office of the statewide company.

Astor also will support the implementation of programs to enhance outreach to cultural groups known to have particular medical conditions associated with their ethnicities. Board certified in ear, nose and throat, Astor comes to BCBSF from the University of Miami where he was associate professor of ENT.

He is a graduate of the Puerto Rico School of Medicine and completed otolaryngology training at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio. He completed fellowships in head and neck surgery and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Astor also has an M.B.A. from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
