Pinnacle Medical Looks to Expand: Group Building New Office, Adding on to Its Flagship Facility

Feb. 18--BRADENTON -- Pinnacle Medical Group is consolidating its operations with the construction of a new medical office building and the expansion of its current flagship facility.

The two $8.4 million projects are expected to be completed by the end of this year, said Chief Executive Officer Todd Batey.

The physician-owned group practice broke ground in late January on the new 18,000-square-foot facility at 7005 Cortez Road. With a planned August opening date, it will offer family practice services, as well as the sub-specialities of neurology, neurosurgery, neuropsychology and rehab medicine.

In June, the expansion of its 315 75th St. W. facility will begin. It will add 16,000 additional square feet. "We're really excited," Batey said. "The community identifies Pinnacle Medical Group by that particular location."

When the expansion of the urgent care center is completed in December, it will offer internal medicine, cardiology, rheumatology and orthopedics. It also has a full service diagnostic center that provides radiology and a sleep lab, Batey said.

The projects will allow the group to consolidate 10 locations into four, Batey said. "We have a variety of offices in the medical arts building at Blake Medical Center," he said.

Family practice locations at 3909 East Bay Drive in Holmes Beach and 6033 26th St. W. will remain open.

The consolidation aims to provide better efficiency and less waiting time for patients. "We're going to look very hard at patient convenience and access," Batey said. "These facilities will allow us to do that."

Batey said the construction of a new facility in northwest Bradenton was part of a strategy. "The land toward the southwest (of the new facility) will one day be developed," he said. "This is more of a consolidation than it is growth. We do have some room for growth but the major drive is to be more efficient."

Pinnacle Medical Group, formed in 1998, employs more than 200 people and 30 physicians. It has more than 130,000 patient visits per year.
