Eight soldiers have tested positive for drugs at a scandal- rocked Army regiment.
In the past six months there have been 30 positive drugs tests at the Green Howards, which recruits primarily from Teesside and North Yorkshire.
The soldiers, who are currently based at Beachley Barracks in Chepstow, now face being kicked out of the Army after failing a random drugs test.
A similar swoop in December of last year saw another eight soldiers fail drug tests.
And in October, 14 soldiers at the regiment were found to have drugs in their system. One soldier was also questioned on suspicion of drug related offences.
The soldiers under investigation will discover their fate in the coming months.
The Ministry of Defence today confirmed that in the past six months there have been 30 positive drugs tests at the regiment.
A spokeswoman said "Eight soldiers from the 1st Battalion The Green Howards, Beachley Barracks, Chepstow, were found positive in a recent compulsory drug test.
"Drug misuse is incompatible with life in the Armed Forces and will not be tolerated."
The latest revelations come at a time of growing concern over the scale of illegal substance abuse in the Army.
The Green Howards has bases in North Yorkshire and Chepstow but will end 318 years of independence when it amalgamates into the new Yorkshire Regiment.
The spokeswoman added: "The Army recognises that a small minority of soldiers do take drugs, however, it should be stressed that drugs misuse is not widespread and is contained by the deterrent effect of compulsory drug tests as well as a vigorous drug education programme.
"Appropriate action is taken against individuals who are found to be taking or supplying illegal drugs. This usually means that they are discharged from military service."
