Dutch Firm to Sell MedMira HIV Rapid Test

February 21, 2006

MedMira said Tuesday it has engaged a Dutch distributor to sell its rapid HIV test in Europe.

The company said it signed a distribution deal with Clindia Benelux to sell MedMira’s Rapid HIV Antibody Test, starting in late March.

MedMira said its test will first be marketed to hospitals and public health clinicians where it said demand is highest.

Clindia has an excellent reputation and solid experience in diagnostic sales to the healthcare market. We remain excited about the overall potential in Europe and now the opportunity to develop current and future markets for instant HIV tests in The Netherlands with Clindia, said Giles Crouch, MedMira’s vice president of global sales & marketing.

MedMira said it chose the Netherlands for its European launch for the country’s strategic importance in selling the rapid HIV test over-the-counter in the future since HIV tests sold in drugstores are more readily accepted by the country’s healthcare system and consumer population.

The company said it would work with Clindia and other European distributors on training and support in the coming months in order to maximize market awareness and growth and leverage sales opportunities in the region.

MedMira’s rapid test detects HIV antibodies in whole blood, serum, and plasma.
