MED3OOO Announces Formation of a National Data Task Force

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- MED3OOO Group, Inc., a privately held national healthcare management and technology company, announced its formation and sponsorship of the MED3OOO National Data Task Force. This National Data Task Force is made up of a multi-disciplinary group of talented and top-rated leaders from all aspects of the healthcare industry including employers, health plans, service and technology vendors, and government leaders who can affect policy decisions for the U.S. healthcare market. The task force has been charged with identifying strategies, processes, and technologies which can harness the power of information and place physicians in a leadership position in improving the cost and quality of healthcare delivery.
"In my opinion, ongoing efforts and approaches to the improvement of healthcare quality and cost are much too fragmented," said Patrick Hampson, Chairman and CEO of MED3OOO. "We have many public and private sector initiatives, each offering different incentives, requirements, and systems which address their individual perspectives within the healthcare delivery and financing continuum. Current initiatives, including the push for electronic medical records (EMR) while admirable, address only pieces of the collective healthcare puzzle - they don't capture all of the important information from disparate systems that are also needed to improve patient care. Therefore, we are seeing physicians moving in mass to the adoption of expensive EMR systems with little understanding that it is only one small piece to the patient health record. What we need is to build physicians a roadmap and educate physicians on how to obtain and best use all of their patients' health data to improve outcomes. Until then, a lot of money will be spent on technology and physicians will have little to show for their efforts. Collectively, our mission is simple, we want to use information to improve outcomes for everyone - the patient, the physician, and the payers of healthcare; this is an opportunity for everyone to win."
Paul McLeod, M.D., MED3OOO Chief Medical Executive, said, "This task force will focus multidisciplinary efforts towards the goal of helping physicians improve outcomes. We will ask the task force physicians to identify all the information necessary to better manage their patients and their entire patient population for acute, preventative, and chronic services. The task force will then work to develop strategies, processes and technologies for capturing, collating, validating, analyzing, benchmarking, formatting, and returning that data back to physicians when and where they need it. Our collective goal is to get physicians the right information, at the right time, in the right place, and in the right format to help them improve outcomes."
Last fall, the MED3OOO National Data Task Force held their opening meeting in conjunction with MED3OOO's National Healthcare Leadership Conference in Scottsdale, AZ. This meeting brought together physician and executive leadership from across the industry spectrum including health plans, employers, IPAs, group practice physicians, hospital leaders, physician leaders and IT and Data Warehouse vendors.
Gary Proffett, M.D., Medical Director of Seaview IPA in Ventura, CA, remarked, "The Task Force's mission is to improve patient care in a efficient and cost effective manner. As a group, we understand that there are differences between policies developed by the government and health plans, which concern the patient/physician relationship. The majority of physicians who do implement electronic health records still will not have the resources to expand the information to a higher level. They do not have the strategies or tools to obtain the many missing pieces of clinical information, nor do they have the tools or resources to develop or manage the data. Adding to the pressures, physicians must not only administer but also perform under a myriad of pay-for-performance initiatives; therefore, it is easy to see what a daunting task they face."
"This first meeting truly set the tone for what we need to do," said Ben Humphrey, M.D., Chief Executive Officer of the Medical Group of Ohio. "It is clear that if we all have the passion, and work together for the good of the patient, we can get this done and provide a great road map for physicians and hospitals to improve the quality and cost of patient care."
The National Task Force will continue discussions this coming April. About MED3OOO
