Study Shows Key Ingredient in Martin's Products Reduces Osteoarthritis Knee Pain
Posted on: Tuesday, 28 February 2006, 12:01 CST
Martin Nutraceuticals Inc. (OTC: MNCL) today announced that studies on a key ingredient in its products Arthrizyme(TM) and Oxygenol(TM) demonstrate the effectiveness against arthritis knee pain.
A clinical study published in the January edition of Biomedicine and Pharmacotherapy, which was conducted at the University of Wurzburg in Germany, demonstrates the natural pain reduction properties of pine bark extract for COX inhibition. Pharmacological inhibition of COX can provide relief from the symptoms of inflammation and pain commonly associated with arthritis.
This study investigated the inhibitory effects of pine bark extract involved in the development of pain associated with arthritis. The tests on two groups revealed both the inhibitory effects on COX leading to reduced inflammation and pain while a second test determined that inhibitory effects took place in as little time as 30 minutes after administering. Harvey Panesar, President of Martin Nutraceuticals commented insistently, "The fact that only 30 minutes after ingestion of pine bark extract, blood samples indicated a statistically significant increase in the inhibitory effects of both COX, indicates that not only do Martin products provide effective arthritis pain relief, but they accomplish in 30 minutes what can take other medications up to30 days."
Dr. Anthony Martin, Martin Nutraceuticals' Director of Research, added, "The research findings of the University of Wurzburg validates and confirms my own studies and research over the past ten years into the positive effects of pine bark extract on recipients physical health." He further added that, "This study adds another dimension to our Oxygenol(TM) products. The benefits of the powerful antioxidant activity of pine bark are well established however the anti-inflammatory effect will be another major health benefit to people taking Oxygenol(TM)."
