Pennsylvania Health Secretary Appoints New Director of the Office of Public Health Preparedness

HARRISBURG, Pa., Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Department of Health Secretary Dr. Calvin B. Johnson today announced the appointment of Meghan Lusby-Treber as the director of the state Office of Public Health Preparedness, effective immediately.

"In today's post-9/11 world, this is a critical position in the commonwealth's efforts to prevent and respond to potential bioterrorism," Dr. Johnson said. "Meghan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this position as the Department of Health continues to ensure the health and safety of Pennsylvania residents.

"Her experience at the U.S. Department of Health and in private industry will be invaluable in supporting Pennsylvania's efforts."

Lusby-Treber was formerly a senior program analyst for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Public Health Emergency Preparedness. She has also served as the director of Emergency Management Programs at MPRI Inc., a subsidiary of L3 Communications. She has also been a deputy program manager with Titan Systems Corporation, working with clients such as the Departments of Homeland Security and Health and Human Services on their Metropolitan Medical Response System program, a national weapons-of-mass- destruction public health and medical response preparedness program.

She earned a bachelor of science degree in emergency health services from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, in 2001. She is currently pursuing a masters degree in emergency health services and preventive medicine and epidemiology, and a graduate certificate in emergency health services, disaster management from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

Lusby-Treber is a licensed and nationally registered paramedic, American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support provider and a Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute instructor. She also serves on the Paramedic Program Advisory Board at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
