WVU Kicks Off Wellness Week at Recreation Center: Events Designed to Encourage Healthy Activities

Mar. 8--The area's largest "hip-hop" class started Tuesday at West Virginia University, as part of National Collegiate Health and Wellness Week.

The WVU Student Recreation Center was the host location for a day of aerobics, which lasted until midnight, a try at the climbing wall and a free chair massage. Other events this week include a modified triathlon, climbing wall and kayak roll sessions â€"â€"among other activities. Information booths staffed by the Carruth Center for Counseling and Psychological Services, Student Health Services, the School of Dentistry, the School of Nursing and the WVU Student Dietetic Association are also available Monday. Healthy food samples will also be offered by WVU Dining Services and Gordon Foods. Today will include a Wellness Week Modified Triathlon from 4 p.m. until the end of the session; 6 a.m.-midnight aerobics and fitness classes in multi-purpose rooms A,B, and C and a free chair massage from 6-8 p.m. Wellness Week ends Thursday with aerobics from 6 a.m.-midnight; 6-8 p.m. chair massage and 8:30-10:30 p.m., kayak roll sessions in the lap pool.
