Priority Health Leverages Google Maps Technology to Enhance Find a Doctor Tool

Priority Health adopts Google's open source mapping technology, to further advance its online Find a Doctor tool. With the new Google Maps technology, Priority Health's Find a Doctor tool enables Web users to more easily locate the physicians, hospitals, and specialists that fit them best.
Priority Health has structured the site (www.priorityhealth.com/doctor) so users can quickly and easily specify the criteria that matter most to them - whether it's the location of the doctor's office, quality ratings, practice specialties, or the gender of the doctor. After just three clicks, search findings are presented on an interactive map of the city complete with roll-over pop-ups containing the physician's photograph, medical specialties, quality ratings, and contact information.
"Priority Health is one of the first in the health care industry to incorporate Google Maps into its Web tools," said Rich Lange, director of Web experience for Priority Health. "The most powerful part of this tool is that it lets users see, at a glance, where doctors are located and who provides quality care and service."
Priority Health was also one of the first health plans to offer a doctor finder tool on its Web site more than four years ago. As part of the company's continuous improvement to meet the changing needs of its members, Priority Health launched and tested the Google Maps technology last fall. The company then conducted several Web "listening labs" with current and potential members to identify areas of refinement. The refined Priority Health Find a Doctor tool, using Google Maps technology, went live early this year.
Priority Health's Web site receives more than 60,000 unique visitors per month, and the Find a Doctor tool is the most highly utilized section -- with up to four times the traffic of any other area of the site. To view the Find a Doctor tool visit priorityhealth.com.
