Tenet California Names New CEO at Creighton University Medical Center

Posted on: Thursday, 9 March 2006, 18:00 CST

Tenet California today announced the appointment of Linda Ollis, F.A.C.H.E, as the new chief executive officer of Creighton University Medical Center, a 334-bed hospital located in Omaha, Neb. Her appointment is effective immediately.

For the past several months, a CEO selection advisory committee has been diligently evaluating candidates that emerged from a nationwide search. The selection advisory committee consisted of governing board members and leaders from the hospital's medical staff. After an extensive interview process, the advisory committee endorsed Ollis, 53, who has been serving as the hospital's administrator and chief operating officer for the past nine months.

"Creighton is one of the nation's most prestigious academic medical centers," said Stephen L. Newman, M.D., Tenet California's chief executive officer. "We are delighted to have a CEO of Linda's experience and caliber at the helm of this great hospital."

Ollis is a board-certified senior hospital administrator and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. She has worked in a variety of hospital leadership positions, with more than ten years of experience in academic medical centers. She previously served as chief operating officer of Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y.; and before that as regional chief operating officer at the three-hospital Christus Schumpert Health System in Shreveport, La. She was senior vice president of operations at Children's Medical Center in Dallas, Texas for the five years previous to those positions.

During her nine-month tenure at the hospital, Linda has had a significant influence in several quality outcome accomplishments. Most recently, CUMC was nationally recognized with the Performance Achievement Award for Coronary Artery Disease through the American Heart Association, which honors hospitals that have implemented evidence-based therapies. In addition, the hospital was recently recognized by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for establishing best practices and increasing organ donation in Nebraska. CUMC was the only hospital in Omaha to receive this prestigious honor.

"I am honored to be named CEO of this fine institution," said Ollis, "and I look forward to leading such a highly qualified, highly skilled team. This hospital is deeply committed to delivering the best possible care to the people we serve. I enthusiastically embrace the opportunity to apply my experience to build on the strengths of our clinical expertise, quality outcomes and exceptional customer service."

Ollis received her masters in public health and health administration and a bachelors of science in physical therapy from the University of Pittsburgh. She and her husband John live in Omaha.
