Florida Beaches Move to Sunrise

Mar. 10--The Florida Beaches Women's Ice Hockey Club is moving to Incredible Ice, practice home of the NHL's Florida Panthers, in Coral Springs.
Last year, the Beaches won the Southeast District Championship and became the first women's hockey team from Florida to play in the USA Hockey Nationals.
The Beaches also are teaming with Elite Hockey Camps of Hanover, N.H., to offer a weekend hockey camp May 19-21 for women and girls of any skill level. The camp will feature U.S. Olympic player Kristin King.

A Thursday night summer league begins June 1. The league is open to girls and women of all skill levels. Practices will be available before the 10-game season. Visit www.flabeaches.net.
KARATE
-- Six new black belt students recently received their certificates of rank in the MuDoKai Karate Style at the American International Karate Institute, 7107 Broward Blvd., in Plantation.
Chief Instructor Shihan Robert Mason presented the awards during an evening training session. They are Plantation residents Page Becks 16; Joshua McCoy, 13; Sean Harper, 13; Ash Ouellette, 18; Max Becks 13; and Dustin Collins, 14.
Mason founded the University Karate Center in 1980. This month, the school celebrates its 26th anniversary with an open house and demonstrations.

VOLLEYBALL
-- East End Volleyball will coordinate one of three events for the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour in South Florida.
East End Volleyball runs the amateur adult and junior competition during the season-opening tournament April 1-2 in Fort Lauderdale.

RACES
-- The fourth Ocean Drive Run 5K is 8:30 a.m. Saturday in South Beach. It marks the finale of the ING Miami Marathon Race Series.
The series was established in 2005 to provide local runners with a short running season as preparation for the ING Miami Marathon.
The course runs from Ocean Drive and through the South Pointe area of South Beach, culminating with a finish festival including a sports/entertainment memorabilia auction at Nikki Beach.
The event will raise money to support the Mount Sinai Medical Center.
Prerace fee is $30, students 18-under $25, seniors over 60 $20, race day $35.
