WASHINGTON, March 10 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The American Institutes for Research (AIR) is one of a select number of research organizations chosen by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, a Public Health Service agency in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, to promote innovation in health care delivery in the United States.
AIR will participate in the Accelerating Change and Transformation in Organizations and Networks (ACTION) program aimed at accelerating the development, implementation, diffusion and uptake of demand-driven and evidence-based products, tools, strategies and findings to improve health care delivery systems.
ACTION is a model of field-based research that fosters public- private collaboration in rapid-cycle, applied research. It brings health services researchers together with health care delivery systems to conduct research that will translate into practical innovations. ACTION partnerships represent all types of health care delivery systems, health plans, academic centers, research consulting firms, government organizations, and others who promote or leverage evidence-based improvements in health care organization and outcomes.
AIR's participation in the ACTION program ensures that AIR will be deeply involved in helping patients, providers and payers overcome the challenges of the increasingly complex health care marketplace.
"AIR's award recognizes the strength and quality of the broad- based partnership that we assembled," says Marilyn Moon, an AIR vice president and director of the nonprofit organization's Health Program.
AIR's collaborators are: Carilion Health System; Geisinger Health System; Hospital Corporation of America; Mayo Clinic; VCU Health Systems; Clinical Resource Consultants, LLC; L&M Policy Research, LLC; Texas A&M University; and Virginia Commonwealth University.
