Solucient(R) has selected Dexter, Mo.-based Missouri Southern Healthcare, a unit of community healthcare provider SunLink Health Systems (AMEX: SSY), as a recipient of the 100 Top(R) National Hospitals National Benchmarks for Success award for excellence in hospital management and performance.
Now in its thirteenth year, the Solucient 100 Top Hospitals Award study uses an objective, comprehensive scorecard to judge hospitals nationwide on five critical areas: clinical outcomes, patient safety, operational efficiency, financial stability and growth. The report identifies industry benchmarks and recognizes hospitals that demonstrate superior clinical, operational and financial achievement in overall service. Winning hospitals display balanced organization of services and management, reflected in their ability to provide sustainable and reliable health care to their respective communities.
"Solucient's recognition of Missouri Southern Healthcare underscores SunLink's commitment to high quality medical care in the communities it serves," said SunLink Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Robert M. Thornton, Jr.
Solucient estimates that if all Medicare inpatients received the same level of care as those in the Top 100 across all categories:
-- An additional 106,312 patients would survive each year.
-- More than 117,000 patient complications would be avoided annually.
-- Expenses would decline by an aggregate $7.6+ billion a year.
-- And the average patient stay would decrease by more than half a day.
Missouri Southern Healthcare is a 50-bed hospital that has served the Stoddard County and surrounding communities for nearly 30 years. MSH utilizes the services of nearly 70 physicians specializing in emergency medicine, family practice, internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, cardiology, pulmonology and radiology.
