SmartCare Family Medical Centers Partners With Kerr Drug Inc. To Bring Retail-Based Healthcare Option to the Carolinas

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo., March 14 /PRNewswire/ -- SmartCare Family Medical Centers and Kerr Drug Inc. have entered into an agreement to open medical centers in select Kerr Drug stores in North and South Carolina.
As part of the agreement, SmartCare Family Medical Centers will design, build and operate its medical centers within select Kerr Drug stores. The centers are scheduled to open during the second quarter of 2006 and will offer consumers in North and South Carolina a convenient complement to their important physician relationships.
With no appointment necessary and extended hours including weekends, SmartCare Family Medical Centers offer convenient, cost-effective and consumer-driven healthcare services for minor acute illnesses. Staffed by Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Certified Medical Assistants, SmartCare Centers treat common ailments such as sore throats, ear infections and seasonal allergies while also providing preventative services such as flu shots and other vaccines, school and employment physicals, and cholesterol screenings. Practitioners place a strong emphasis on wellness and the prevention of health issues.
