Ethidium Health Systems Powers Medical Record Network for Take Care Health Systems
Posted on: Tuesday, 14 March 2006, 18:00 CST
Ethidium Health Systems, a leading developer of clinical information management software and services, today announced that it has successfully deployed its clinical software in 16 Take Care Health Systems (TCHS) locations in Portland, OR and Kansas City, KS and MO. Using web technology and open standards (including HL7), the seamlessly integrated patient kiosk and electronic medical record (EMR) solution connects nurse practitioners, patients, pharmacists, collaborating physicians, billing professionals, and technical staff to one secure, real-time medical record sharing network that spans four different states.
Ethidium customized its E-Health Platform for Take Care Health Systems to enable their nurse practitioners to have secure, instant access to the medical records of any patient seen at any of their many convenient locations. With Ethidium's technology, patients can now sign-in to be seen by a nurse practitioner using a user-friendly kiosk in the pharmacy, and their information will automatically be updated in the EMR as well as corporate billing systems. The integrated solution delivers point-of-care documentation using guidelines, ePrescribing with formulary and drug interaction checking, document scanning, automated coding, credit card processing, discharge instruction generation, and more.
"EHS quickly delivered a suite of clinical applications to Take Care that enhances their productivity and enables patients to gain access to high quality, affordable healthcare," stated Matias Klein, President and Chief Technology Officer of Ethidium Health Systems. Take Care operates Take Care Health Centers inside retail pharmacies. Take Care currently has 16 locations - seven inside Rite Aid in Portland, Oregon and nine in Osco Drug stores in Kansas City, KS and MO. Take Care has deployed Ethidium's technology in all these locations. Take Care recently announced plans to open 1400 centers by the end of 2008, in partnership with major retailers such as Brooks-Eckerd, Rite Aid, and Osco Drug and Sav-on pharmacies.
"Ethidium's E-health Platform has enabled Take Care to launch in our initial markets in a very short timeframe, while helping deliver upon our long-term goal of providing a paperless system for our nurse practitioners, and our vision of a system where patients can have their information recorded and stored electronically. Working collaboratively the fully integrated Kiosk and EMR are unique to the industry," said Pat Lucas, Chief Information Officer at Take Care Health Systems.
"This successful deployment highlights how our next-generation, low cost, on-demand model clinical platform can connect patients, doctors, hospitals, and payors in support of the creation of market-driven Regional Health Information Organizations (RHIOs). We look forward to rolling out many more sites and moving forward in our mission to provide systems that streamline the business of healthcare while improving the clinician-patient relationship," stated Klein.
