Taro said Wednesday it has been approved to market generic Elocon Lotion, a corticosteroid to treat skin inflammation.
The company said the Food and Drug Administration has given approval to its mometasone furoate topical solution, 0.1 percent lotion for the temporary relief of inflammatory skin conditions.
The topical product is the generic equivalent of Schering-Plough's Elocon lotion, Taro said in a statement.
Taro estimated sales of Elocon in the United States at approximately $9.6 million.
The generic drug maker got tentative FDA approval of the dermatological drug in December 2004.
