Mar. 22--Joint open houses will be held Thursday evening at DeTar Hospital North to herald the openings of two new specialty centers at 115 Medical Drive in Victoria.

The Driscoll Children's Hospital-Victoria Specialty Center, Suite 201, in the second floor of the building formerly known as the VRMC Professional Building, will provide a centralized location for specialty physicians who commute to Victoria once a month, according to a Driscoll news release.

These physicians are specialists to whom Victoria pediatricians would refer their patients with difficult diseases or disorders.

For example, pediatric endocrinologist Stephen Ponder, a Driscoll physician who specializes in glandular disorders in children, would be consulted in case a child developed type II diabetes.

The Imaging Center at the Women & Children's Center will occupy Suite 107 of 115 Medical Drive and will house DeTar's newest imaging technology, including equipment for magnetic resonance imaging and mammography.
