EPHRATA, Pa., March 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition announces the availability of their insurance guidebook, "Breast Cancer: Covered or Not?" at a book signing and press event on Monday, March 27 at 1:00 p.m. in the Main Rotunda of the State Capitol Building. The book, co-authored by former PA Department of Aging Secretary Dr. Linda Rhodes and PBCC President & Founder Pat Halpin-Murphy, is a valuable resource for those who have questions and concerns about health insurance and employment issues.
"Women and their families facing a breast cancer diagnosis should not be faced with the additional challenge of dealing with complex insurance and employment issues on their own," said Pat Halpin-Murphy. "Our insurance guidebook helps to alleviate unnecessary stress and uncertainty for women battling breast cancer so that they can focus more of their attention on beating the disease."
The book addresses some of the most pressing questions that breast cancer survivors face when making decisions about their treatment and care -- ranging from general information such as where to turn for help with insurance claims and who pays for clinical trials, to specific step-by-step options for individuals with various levels of insurance coverage, to sample letters to your insurer and employer on topics such as the Family Medical Leave Act.
"This book was written to help women navigate the insurance maze by acting as their personal guide and compass," said Dr. Linda Rhodes.
To order an Insurance Guidebook or for more information, please call 1-800-377-8828 x307 or email info@pabreastcancer.org. It is available to for-profit entities for $14.95 plus tax per book and to non-profits and individuals for $5.00 plus tax. The Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition, founded in 1993, is a non-profit organization and the only statewide grassroots organization that speaks to and for breast cancer survivors. This year, more than 12,000 Pennsylvania women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. More than 2,300 will lose their lives to the disease. The PBCC's mission is to help find a cure for breast cancer and to improve the quality of breast cancer education, research and outreach in the state.
