Encentuate Inc., a provider of enterprise access security solutions, today announced that Northeast Medical Center in Humble, Texas, has selected Encentuate TCI for its identity and access management requirements. Encentuate TCI will secure access to shared and personal workstations, and reduce the time it takes to access patient information by streamlining caregiver workflow. The solution will eliminate the dependence on multiple passwords, which will help increase caregiver productivity and quality of patient care, and reduce helpdesk cost. The solution also allows Northeast Medical Center to integrate both information and physical access into the existing employee ID badges, using proximity-based RFID technology. Northeast Medical Center and Encentuate have started a multiple phase rollout, which includes registering more than 1,500 end users and deploying the solution across all clinical and support departments.
Northeast Medical Center selected Encentuate TCI to protect patient information by providing flexible desktop security policies and improving caregiver workflow on shared workstations. The solution provides single sign-on to more than 70 core applications, including QuardaMed Affinity Care Management Solutions, QuadraMed Inpatient Pharmacy, and PICIS products, which are currently being used throughout the medical center.
"We evaluated several solutions, but selected Encentuate TCI as it was the most user-friendly solution for our clinicians and IT administrators," said Carla Maslakowski, vice president of operations and chief information officer for Northeast Medical Center. "Encentuate's solution is very robust and easily supported our complex workflow requirements. In addition to combining computer and physical access into our existing employee badges, the solution is invisible to the users, which is critical to gaining support from our health care staff and ensuring implementation success. We are confident that Encentuate's solution will help us enhance patient safety and privacy, be HIPAA compliant and protect patient information without impeding clinicians' productivity or workflow."
Encentuate TCI also allows Northeast Medical Center's IT department to manage user identities and workflow policies centrally and reduce focus on password management and password-related support calls. Encentuate also gives caregivers the freedom to roam between patients and automate sign-on; launch a personal session; access patient information on a shared workstation; automate sign-off and then continue their work on any workstation within the hospital.
"Encentuate is focused on solving identity and access management challenges for our customers," said Thomas F. Kelly, president and chief executive officer of Encentuate. "We support our health care customers by enhancing the caregiver's ability to access information quickly while protecting patient information and complying with HIPAA at the same time. Our solution is being adopted by health care providers across the country because it is easy to deploy, provides the exact level of security the hospital requires and allows the caregivers to focus on patient care. We are pleased that Northeast Medical Center selected our solution and look forward to working with the hospital and supporting their growth."
