New Tool Helps Patients Better Manage Their Care

Posted on: Wednesday, 29 March 2006, 12:01 CST

Philadelphia-based Thomas Jefferson University Hospital is helping patients better manage their care by providing them with a personal health manager application supplied by Bio-Imaging Technologies' CapMed division.

CapMed says its PHM enables individuals to track their medical information on a personal computer. The information includes patient registration and health history forms, their provider directory, as well as health resources and guidelines.

In addition, CapMed is providing its Personal HealthKey, a portable USB application for transporting medical information, to a sample of its senior management team with the goal of evaluating the technology for future release to patients.

Carmhiel Brown, SVP of marketing at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, said, "At Jefferson University Hospital, we are dedicated to excellence in patient care. The interactive Personal Health Manager helps our patients take a more active role in their care. As an added benefit it also helps us to brand our Jefferson University Hospital name in the community."
