Health Net Federal Services (HNFS), the government operations division of Health Net, Inc. (NYSE:HNT), announced today that it has donated $15,000 to show its continued commitment for the Fort Drum Regional Health Planning Organization (FDRHPO). FDRHPO, a not-for-profit organization, aims to plan and evaluate quality health care services that meet military needs by enhancing the response to the Fort Drum community and building a strong North Country health care system using available resources working jointly and cooperatively.

“We are proud to support programs such as the Fort Drum Regional Health Planning Organization that work hard to ensure active duty members and their families receive quality health care services,” said Steve Tough, president, Health Net Federal Services. “The FDRHPO is fully committed to building upon military and civilian providers for the benefit of our military families in the Watertown area, and we look forward to our continued partnership with them to meet this need.”

Health Net, the Managed Care Support Contractor in the TRICARE North Region, fully supports the military mission through development of civilian provider networks that complement military health care services. For military installations like Fort Drum that do not have a hospital, civilian hospital systems play a pivotal role in keeping military families healthy. Health Net works with these hospital systems to help coordinate patient care into the civilian community and ensure health care resources are available for TRICARE families.

The FDRHPO is a not-for-profit organization designed to develop a community-based military and civilian health care system. The organization stems from a Department of Defense pilot program for health care delivery, which was created by Congressman John M. McHugh as part of the Fiscal-Year 2005 Defense Authorization bill. Executive leadership from Samaritan Medical Center, Carthage Area Hospital and Fort Drum’s Medical Command and other community health care leaders form the board of directors of the FDRHPO, and who explore opportunities to expand and enhance health care services in the Fort Drum area.
