The Foundation for Managed Care Pharmacy Appoints Roger L. Hyde to Board of Trustees

Roger L. Hyde of AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, LP, was recently appointed to the Foundation for Managed Care Pharmacy (FMCP) Board of Trustees. FMCP is the sister organization of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP), constituting the research, education and philanthropic arm of the Academy. The FMCP Board of Trustees is involved in developing the strategic direction of Foundation activities and identifies current and future trends requiring research and/or education to fulfill the vision of the organization.
"A diverse board with representation from varied aspects of the health care industry is critical to the success of FMCP," said Cynthia J. Pigg, executive director of the Foundation. "Roger's extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry as well as managed care will contribute greatly to the ability of the Foundation to help patients improve their quality of life through accessible, appropriate and evidence-based medication therapy."
As vice president of Managed Markets for AstraZeneca, Hyde maintains responsibility for all commercial activities with organizations that directly and indirectly purchase AstraZeneca products. He is also accountable for all commercial activities related to managed markets, including brand and segment strategies, contracting strategies and operations and managed market promotions.
Hyde has accumulated over twenty-five years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, beginning his career as a sales representative. His industry experience includes various positions within sales, marketing and managed markets organizations, as district sales manager, product manager, director, sales force strategy and design, customer center leader, national sales director and as a commercial brand leader. Hyde played a key role in launching two of AstraZeneca's key products.
Hyde received a B.S.S. Ed. with a major in Chemistry from West Virginia University. He and his wife Winnie reside in Chadds Ford, PA, and have three grown children, Andrea, Ryan and Lara.
Rusty Hailey, Chief Pharmacy Officer and senior vice president, Pharmacy Services at Coventry Health Care, Inc., is president of the FMCP Board of Trustees. Judith A. Cahill, executive director of the Academy, serves as secretary on the FMCP Board. Cathy A. Carroll, director of Patient Care Services Research at Children's Mercy Hospitals & Clinics, serves as treasurer, and Dianne Kane Parker, president of the Academy and Health Outcomes and Pharmacoeconomics Regional Medical Liaison at Amgen, Inc., is president-elect. Hyde joins Schumarry H. Chao, president of SHC and Associates, Inc.; John Hopkins, president/CEO of Rocky Mountain Health Plans; Steven W. Gray, Pharmacy Professional Affairs leader at Kaiser Permanente; Jon Clouse, director of Pharmacoeconomic Evaluations at UnitedHealthcare Pharmaceutical Solutions; Richard Patrylak, senior vice president of USHH Customer Sales, Marketing and Policy at Merck & Co., Inc.; Hugh O'Neill, vice president of Integrated Healthcare Markets at sanofi-aventis; and Sean Sullivan, president and CEO of the Institute for Health and Productivity Management at Gainey Ranch Center, as trustees of the Board. The Board of Trustees is responsible for control and management of the FMCP property, business, affairs and funds.
The Foundation for Managed Care Pharmacy (FMCP) is a non-profit charitable trust recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as the educational and philanthropic arm of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP). The Foundation supports the goals of and mission of AMCP and exists to advance the knowledge and insights of interested individuals and groups on major issues associated with the practice of pharmacy in a managed health care setting.
