Massachusetts Hospital Association Endorses MedAptus

April 5, 2006

BOSTON, April 5 /PRNewswire/ — MedAptus(R), provider of point-of-care solutions to healthcare organizations nationwide, today announced that it has established a partnership with the Massachusetts Hospital Association (MHA). MHA, a voluntary, not-for-profit organization, is comprised of almost 100 hospitals and health systems, related organizations, and other members with a common interest in promoting the health of the people of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

At the core of the relationship is MedAptus’ practice-proven Electronic Charge Capture, a solution for the capture and submission of compliant professional charges. Usage of the application has yielded the MedAptus customer-base in excess of $30 million in increased collected revenue last year alone as a result of improved and streamlined physician coding. The system’s well-documented ability to drive significant financial return and physician adoption has prompted MHA to assist in its promotion to the prestigious MHA membership base.

“Obviously the primary goal in selecting business partners is that what they provide meets the needs of our membership. The MedAptus solution clearly can help our members deal more effectively with revenue collection issues,” said Doris Ferullo, MHA Senior Vice President of Administration and Finance.

Ferullo added that, “Massachusetts is home to some of the most advanced and noted hospitals in the country. If we want to maintain a position of leadership, we need to address financial realities with innovative, yet proven, solutions. MHA believes MedAptus is well-poised to deliver these to our members.”

MedAptus’ solution is commonly integrated with existing scheduling, billing and electronic medical record systems, and deployed via handheld devices, smartphones, tablets, and workstations. MHA members already using MedAptus include Lahey Clinic and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Several hundred physicians affiliated with other Massachusetts hospitals are also system users.

“As a practicing physician at an MHA member hospital, I can speak to the vital importance of this organization for its efforts around advocacy, education and information sharing. Considering MHA’s stature, aligning ourselves with the group is quite exciting for MedAptus. I look forward to cultivating our relationship and hope that through it, we are able to bring our solution to an increasing number of local institutions concerned with effective revenue cycle management,” said David Delaney, MD, vice president of business development for MedAptus.
