New HealthAllies(R) Arrangements Provide Discounts on Innovative Solutions to Health Care Challenges Facing Today's Families

HealthAllies(R), Inc., a UnitedHealth Group company (NYSE:UNH), has added three new companies to its discount program network, which helps consumers reduce out-of-pocket health care expenses. These arrangements allow HealthAllies to offer consumers new tools for coping with some of the most common health care challenges facing families today, as well as deeper savings on children's weight management programs and beauty, wellness, chronic care and memory loss products.

"Achieving wellness means different things to different individuals, whether you're among the more than 90 million people who live with chronic disease, or are a parent of one of the 30 percent of children who are overweight. The three new companies - Familymeds.com, The Memory Lane Company and MYnetico - now offer discounts of 10 percent to 20 percent to HealthAllies' 6 million members. The companies and their products include:

Familymeds.com

Through Familymeds.com, an online and mail-order drugstore, HealthAllies members now receive discounts of 10 percent to 15 percent on a wide variety of products essential to healthy everyday living, such as vitamins, nutritional supplements, home medical supplies and health and beauty products. Familymeds.com also specializes in health care supplies used for the treatment of conditions such as diabetes, cancer and chronic pain. In all, more than 15,000 products can be ordered online or by telephone for home delivery.

The Memory Lane Company

HealthAllies is now offering a 20 percent discount on memory loss products from The Memory Lane Company. Memory Lane's innovative videos, audio CDs and memory books provide a place where people with memory loss and their caregivers and family members can come together to reminisce, connect and share moments of joy. Caregivers will find these tools useful for focusing attention, evoking pleasant memories and creating conversations.

MYnetico

HealthAllies members now receive a 20 percent discount on products and services from MYnetico, a company that helps parents work with their children to reach a healthier weight. Developed by Deneen Vojta, M.D., a physician experienced in childhood obesity, MYnetico is based on the belief that change begins with the family, and that by adopting proven behaviors as a group, all family members can enjoy a healthier life. The program includes personal online and telephone coaching; an interactive Web site featuring menus, recipes, shopping lists, healthy eating tips and activity guides; and a reward system to help children remain committed to their weight loss and maintenance program.
