Launch of an Innovative Way to Learn About Menopause: Customized Newsletters Available at Http://Www.Hormonepatch.Com
MIAMI, April 10 /PRNewswire/ — Healthcare providers have a new resource to offer their patients dealing with menopause: a customized newsletter tailored to certain needs of women experiencing menopause. Whether it’s natural menopause or menopause due to a hysterectomy, the newsletter called “Making Sense of Menopause” provides balanced information to women about this life change. Based on the answers to a short questionnaire, the respondent receives a newsletter that is tailored to whether they have had a hysterectomy or are using hormone therapy. To sign up for this newsletter, women can visit http://www.hormonepatch.com/ .
The website and newsletter are created by Novogyne Pharmaceuticals, the makers of Vivelle-Dot(TM) (estradiol transdermal system), the world’s smallest estrogen therapy patch. “So much information on menopause is available to women today, it can be overwhelming. These newsletters customize information to address individual needs,” said Jorge Lorenzo, Director of Women’s Health Marketing, Novogyne Pharmaceuticals.
Novogyne offers the newsletter as part of their newly launched website. “‘Making Sense of Menopause’ is designed to be a resource to complement information given by healthcare professionals. It can also be used as a fact- based conversation starter during medical appointments,” said Lorenzo.
In addition to the newsletter, the website also provides resources not only for learning about menopause — including explanation of symptoms and causes, discussing sex after menopause and other frequently asked questions — but also for understanding the benefits and risks of treatment options and comparing the needs surrounding natural versus surgical menopause.
In-depth information is included through downloadable educational brochures as well as a short menopause video that reviews different treatment options. The video is a casual yet informative conversation between three women that discusses menopause options.

About Novogyne Pharmaceuticals
Novogyne Pharmaceuticals is a joint venture between Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation and Noven Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Since May 1998, Novogyne has been offering pharmaceutical products that enable physicians to better serve the medical needs of mature women. Novogyne’s products include Vivelle-Dot (estradiol transdermal system), the smallest estrogen patch available. Vivelle-Dot is available in dosages of 0.025, 0.0375, 0.05, 0.075, and 0.1 mg/day.
What is the most important information I should know about Vivelle-Dot (an estrogen hormone)?
Estrogens increase the chances of getting cancer of the uterus (womb). Report any unusual vaginal bleeding right away while you are taking estrogens. Vaginal bleeding after menopause may be a warning sign of cancer of the uterus (womb).
Do not use estrogens with or without progestins to prevent heart disease, heart attacks, or strokes. Using estrogens with or without progestins may increase your chances of getting heart attacks, strokes, breast cancer, and blood clots. Using estrogens with progestins may increase your risk of dementia (decline in memory and thinking skills).
Vivelle-Dot should not be used if you have unusual vaginal bleeding; currently have or have had certain cancers, including cancer of the breast or uterus; had a stroke or heart attack in the recent past (for example, in the past year); currently have or have had blood clots; currently have or have had liver problems; or think you may be, or know that you are, pregnant.
The most common side effects that may occur with Vivelle-Dot are headache, breast tenderness, and back pain.
Vivelle-Dot is used after menopause to: reduce moderate to severe hot flashes; treat moderate to severe dryness, itching and burning in or around the vagina; help reduce your chances of getting osteoporosis (thin weak bones); and treat certain conditions in which a young woman’s ovaries do not produce enough estrogens naturally. Vivelle-Dot 0.025 mg/day is only used to prevent osteoporosis from menopause. If you use Vivelle-Dot only to treat your dryness, itching, and burning in and around your vagina or if you use Vivelle- Dot only to prevent osteoporosis from menopause, talk with your healthcare professional about whether a different treatment or medicine without estrogens might be better for you.
You and your healthcare professional should talk regularly about whether you still need treatment with Vivelle-Dot.
