Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/c36092) has announced the addition of Large Employer Purchasers of Health Care Market Overview to their offering.

Employer-sponsored health insurance provides coverage for 160 million Americans, reaching nearly three of every five of the non-elderly. The percentage of businesses offering health insurance to their workers has declined steadily over the last five years as the cost of providing coverage continues to outpace inflation and wage growth, according to the 2005 Annual Employer Health Benefits Survey. The survey found that three in five firms (60%) offered coverage to workers in 2005, down significantly from 69% in 2000 and 66% in 2003. The drop stems almost entirely from fewer small businesses offering health benefits, as nearly all businesses (98%) with 200 or more workers offer such benefits. Premiums increased an average of 9.2% in 2005, down from the 11.2% average found in 2004. Of an estimated $268 billion spent on health care for working adults, ages 19 to 64, in 2004, just over one-half ($150 billion) was provided by own-employer insurance, leaving $118 billion to be covered by other sources. Large employers have initiated a number of actions to stem the rising cost of health insurance. The Large Employer Purchasers of Health Care Market Overview identifies the largest 25 employers. The Market Overview provides information on each large employer which includes: company background, operating businesses, company strategy, financial information, number of employees and recent health care activities (when available). The Large Employer Purchasers of Health Care Market Overview also identifies the trends the large employers are facing in today’s market.
