SinoFresh Reports Patient Case Study: Allergic Fungal Rhinosinusitis in Adult Male With History of Sinus Conditions

Posted on: Thursday, 27 April 2006, 09:00 CDT

SinoFresh HealthCare, Inc. (OTC BB: SFSH), maker of the only over-the-counter nasal spray that eliminates the causes of many chronic sinus conditions, today reported a patient case study involving successful treatment of an extreme case of allergic fungal rhinosinusitis.

Patient History

58-year-old male with over 40 years of chronic sinus problems. He had undergone multiple sinus operations over his lifetime. He presented with persistent frontal sinus pressure, itchiness over the forehead, and thick nasal discharge.

Diagnosis

Laboratory studies of his mucus were extremely positive for major basic protein, confirming a diagnosis of fungal origin of his chronic rhinosinusitis.

Treatment

The patient was placed on SinoFresh(TM) Nasal Mist in an attempt to reduce the fungal load in his nasal cavity. Within a week, his facial itchiness and pressure greatly improved. He also had a remarkable reduction in nasal discharge. After further follow-up, the amount of thickened mucus in his nasal cavity was minimal.

The patient was treated at the renowned Silverstein Institute in Sarasota, FL. As a further complicating factor in this case, the patient is employed as a merchant marine and is onboard sea-going vessels for periods of up to 6 months. It is imperative that the patient has access to a treatment alternative that is portable, easy-to-use, and does not require refrigeration or other special handling procedures.

Seth I. Rosenberg, M.D. of the Silverstein Institute oversaw the case and commented, "This case is a great example of a patient who may have benefited from a prescription antifungal treatment; however due to logistical reasons SinoFresh(TM) was the best first-line alternative." He continued, "I feel that SinoFresh(TM) would also be good for casual use for chronic rhinosinusitis, which could open use for this product to literally millions of people."

William Wilferth, SinoFresh's Vice President of Research & Development, stated, "SinoFresh(TM) has always shown great efficacy against a variety of fungal organisms in laboratory experiments. This case study is another great building block toward establishing SinoFresh(TM) as the physician's first choice for certain chronic sinus conditions."
