Posted on: Thursday, 27 April 2006, 09:01 CDT
In its most recent report on its Florida Healthy People 2010 Program, Florida's Office of Minority Health identified the African American Medical Network's Patient Education programming as a necessary tactic in the efforts of the Department of Health's Minority Physicians Network to reduce minority health disparities. This report is available to all physicians and public health officials. African American Medical Network is a subsidiary of Medical Media Television (OTCBB:MMTV).
As stated in the Florida Healthy People 2010 Program Report, "Access Health Solutions under the auspices of the National Medical Association has collaborated with the African American Medical Network to deliver health programming that educates patients about important issues while they wait in the doctor's waiting room, making them easier to treat and more open to the latest in healthcare technologies. The new placed-based television network delivers advertiser-supported, educational programming to millions of patients through doctors' offices that serve the African-American population."
According to African American Medical Network's President Robert K. Cambridge, "Our mission is to educate minority patients about important healthcare issues in order to reduce minority health disparities and decrease negative health outcomes, so we're pleased to have the importance of our programming recognized by Florida's Department of Health in this manner."
Facilitated through Access Health Solutions, a major Florida-based physician network, African American Medical Network provides educational programming about medical and health issues related to the needs of minority patients. Each month, newly updated DVD magazines are distributed to doctors' waiting rooms for patient viewing. Hosted and voiced by veteran actor Ernie Hudson, programming consists of fast-paced segments four to seven minutes long that cover pertinent healthcare topics geared to create awareness about key diseases and the steps needed to preserve and improve the quality of life. Sub-titling is available in Spanish, French and English.
The corporate offices of Medical Media and African American Medical Network are located at 8406 Benjamin Road, Suite C, Tampa, Florida 33634. For more information regarding this press release, please contact Charles Richardson, Sr. Vice President Marketing of MMTV at (813) 888-7330.
