Posted on: Monday, 1 May 2006, 09:02 CDT
BOSTON, May 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Insight Forums announced today that the second annual Healthcare Communications Forum will be held at The Minneapolis Club in downtown Minneapolis on September 11-12, 2006. The theme will be "Communications: The Key to Empowering the Healthcare Consumer."
"Just about everyone agrees that our healthcare system is ailing," said Wes Ervin, Chairman of the Advisory Council for the Healthcare Communications Forum 2006. "Many argue that the best cure is to engage the consumer. But how can healthcare providers better educate and motivate the consumer to start making these new and sometimes bewildering choices? We see the need for an event where healthcare industry professionals can gather to learn, discuss, and debate issues specific to the communications that connect payors, providers, and sponsors with healthcare consumers."
The Advisory Council has issued a Call for Speakers, available from the conference Web site: http://www.insightforums.com/. The Council consists of the following industry professionals:
-- Deborah Bosley, PhD, Director of the Center for Writing, Language, and Literacy, UNC Charlotte -- Wes Ervin, PhD, VP of Product and Event Development, Art Plus Technology -- Louise M. Lavere, Director, Marketing Communications, HealthNow New York Inc. -- Judy Norsigian, Executive Director, Our Bodies Ourselves -- Dan Perrin, President, The HSA Coalition -- David Sless, Director, The Communication Research Institute -- John Young, Vice President, Consumerism Segment -- Middle Market, CIGNA HealthCare The deadline for submitting session proposals is May 31, 2006.
The inaugural conference, held at The Harvard Club in 2005, drew senior managers and communications professionals from a wide array of healthcare plans and providers, Blue Cross organizations, hospitals, and universities. For feedback on the event, see http://www.insightforums.com/.
