Toshiba Achieves Educational Milestone for Unique Physician-to-Physician Speakers Bureau Program

Ensuring that patients across the country have access to the best cardiac care available, Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. (TAMS) today announced that it has successfully enrolled more than 2,500 radiologists and cardiologists in its national speakers bureau program and physician training courses through the Toshiba Education Center. The Toshiba Speakers Bureau, which was launched in 2004, features leading physician presenters and is designed to educate physicians about latest cardiac imaging technology, including the Aquilion 64(TM) CFX computed tomography (CT) system, the Infinix(TM)-i series of cath labs and the Aplio(TM) ultrasound system.

Offered nationwide, Toshiba's Speakers Bureau events are continuing medical education (CME) programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and aimed at relaying the practical experiences of clinicians that have adopted 64-slice CT technology in a wide variety of settings, from hospitals to stand-alone imaging centers. From Sept. 2004 through March 2006, Toshiba has hosted nearly 30 speakers bureau event in cities across the country, including Anaheim, Baltimore, Chicago and Miami.

According to Peter Fail, M.D., cardiologist, Cardiovascular Institute of the South, the growing availability of technology designed to diagnose heart disease before a patient experiences a heart attack has put new demands on the fields of cardiology and radiology. "Patients are actively looking for the next best thing when it comes to uncovering their true risk for heart disease.

Diagnostic imaging is a big part of that equation, making it essential for physicians to remain up to date on the latest imaging applications in cardiology, such as 64-slice CT."
